Kobolt 8gal Compressor POS

Ok so we thought we had a real bargain until we researched the tool. Turns out this is a real junker. Yes it’s still available for purchase new, fleabay has them for 219 so our bargain of 40 bucks might pan out. Except, ok it’s obviously made in china and is of the lowest quality, but some reviews say it can handle light duty stuff and for years. Of course reviews are like, you know, everyone has one. One of the toughest things to get from someone reviewing a item is an objective non-bias opinion. Of course if a guy laid down some of his hard earned cash on an item he’s gonna talk it up, it’s a natural phenomena, sometimes even convincing themselves a piece of sh!t is a good deal to save face and feel better about their decision. So as this deal goes we want it to be a great find but in reality these compressors are junk.
no oil bath for the connecting rod, simple piston and ring design and of course a defective poorly designed manifold
At least I will provide some real images for anyone that needs some info, the online community only has black and white scans and leave a lot of info out like the pressure switch and the flyweights on the motor. Our find had the notorious broken manifold and of course the part is no longer made or available. Here goes (the images are high rez if you need a closer look download them)

Well 2hrs mental process and a little mig and it’s running. It makes great pressure fast, cuts off and on when it’s supposed to, i guess it’s a win but paying anymore than 40 would have been a bad deal. It’s hard to tell sometimes with all the plastic shroud and the excitement of making a deal.
NOTICE This!! The main lead, the black wire came from the inlet cord and routed under the compressor mount point. This is straight up BS, the main wire was pinched when pulled out . Because I dont know the history of this unit I will let it be but the reality is this manufacture shipped this unit with a major defect!!!

oh yeah the flyweights are a centrifugal switch for the start capacitor. This setup looked new giving me the impression this unit is very low time

H-chinadepot crap duel pain vinal windows

I don’t even know how to explain the junk theses windows are. I believe they are about 8 years old. Now first and formost Vinal anything in Florida is a No_go, any vinal alltogether, this is just a cheap material that doesn’t last. So here I am, invested in hurricain proof windows that every one of them have broken supports. Now I have window panes that weight 45 lbs and need a stick to hold open because the window manufacture wants to rape me for 35 bucks each for a poorly designed system that will fail, on every window. Thats 70 bucks to fix shit that won’t be fixed and the next time somone tries to open it without lifting perfectly straight it will break again.
The Mission is to redesign the hold up system, even if it has to be external. This is just an example of crap design, crappy manufacture, and greed from H-crapo for selling this garbage.

was teaching my grand son how to use tin snips on it (POS)

There will be an update when I figure out how to update this crap. Overall the windows being argon gas and duel pain if I can come up with a slide system that will be fine, I have considered gas charged struts but this repair has to be affordable and durable. I will post pictures and diamentions of the window pain and frame to update my progress. (note the broom handle supports holding up the windows)

Tip of the day #1

i am always the one that is blamed for lost cords. Some electronic equiptment have special milded cords and they can be hard to locate. If you don’t use the proper cord, even if it fits in you risk a polarity issue. More on that in a minute. Here is a great solutionand also a great tip for managing rope or wire loops. God old romax can be stripped and nice solid copper removed to make excellant twist ties. Now I know you can buy this at the crappy home-chinadepot for a few bucks, it has fancy vinal cover, mine here I even cut the insulation by mistake but it doesn’t matter, IT WORKS!

Part 2 You see you can fit a cord that is molded different but this cord can be inserted either way allowing for the netural and hot to be alternated. You might get it right the first try but if the device is not setup for this you make smoke

Total China Crap Vaccume

Break out Parts all new this vaccume was new, lost cord

Small 12v motor and suction turbine and inlet
The exhaust just blows out the back

These batteries are a disapointment but will have to investagate further.

Ni-MH

The negative electrodes use a hydrogen-absorbing alloy instead of cadmium (nickel–cadmium cell (NiCd).) NiMH batteries can have two to three times the capacity of NiCd batteries of the same size, with significantly higher energy density, although much less than lithium-ion batteries.

this would mean 10 x 1.2 = 12v (I had to use a calculator)

Small Compressor Stay’en Alive

Keeping a compressor working and updates

This beatup compressor has been working tirelessly for years. It succumbed to
the China syndrome, cheep parts and poor design. This unit actually has a purpose
it inflates car tires and everyone knows where it is, such a waist to junk it so we FIXED IT!

The start capacitor was blown so it wouldn’t start. A new larger one was used, it had to be strapped on cause it was not a direct replacement, but it kicks this thing off.
second the air pressure start/shutoff valve was inop. Lots going on in this switch box. This one died because the electrical contacts had plastic design.
the parts used are listed, the cost to fix was around 30 bucks
